Volunteers Needed for FoodLink Distribution

When:
  • Tuesday, August 31 and 4th Tuesday of each month following (see dates above)
  • Start at 3 with setup and unloading truck
  • Distribution begins at 3:45
  • Cleanup will be approximately 6 pm
  • Come when you can. We're looking for any volunteers for any of the time.
What:
  • Set-up: Get tables from the church shed and set them up in the parking lot. Help unload the truck. May involve some heavy lifting. Can then work as food distribution.
  • Food distribution: Staff a table or distribute food from a pallet. Restock your table when supplies run low. Should not involve heavy lifting.
  • Clean up: Break down cardboard boxes and pile them to go out with recyclables for the following week. Stack pallets in designated places. Load any leftover food in truck/trailer to go to North Bergen Food Pantry. Put tables away in shed.
  • Helpers to carry food: Assist clients as they come through the line. Help carry food to vehicles.
  • Prayer warriors: Pray for good weather; smooth operation and distribution; and for the folks who will come to get food. May they be blessed. Safety for all involved.
Who:
  • Anyone can fill any of these jobs.
  • Recruit your friends and neighbors and their children.
  • Sports teams, 4-H Clubs, Scouts, etc. are always welcome.
Where:
  • Bergen Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 38 South Lake Rd, Bergen, NY
  • Outside in the church parking lot.
  • Dress appropriately.

Since this is our first time hosting in almost two years, please try to recruit some additional folks to help. We don't know how busy we will be or exactly how FoodLink's new guidelines will impact our process.


We recommend that all volunteers wear masks during this program.

We are planning to start the FoodLink food distribution on August 31. There will be some changes, but we are looking forward to this opportunity to serve the people of Bergen again. These are the dates that are planned at this point:

  • November 23
